Queen Yupele

Fashion Royalty

I have long been captivated by the art of burlesque - its playfulness, its raw grace, and the delicate interplay between illusion and reality - and it was my singular fortune to make my debut at the inaugural Black Burlesque Festival in London, in 2024.

My focus, until then, had been mainly on photographic work, the still image, but out on stage is a world where every gesture is born anew, and each performance draws its breath from the crowd, a dance between creator and spectator, fleeting yet potent. The sensation is immediate, visceral. A work of art, alive.

As for my performing style, standing at a statuesque six feet, I command the stage with a regal elegance, evoking the grandeur and rebellious spirit of the supermodels of the '90s, their boldness and daring reverberating in every step I take.

Long live THE QUEEN.
